Seeing Blue | Emeryville, CA

Oh my gosh, it is such a treat to reconnect with old friends. We used to meet up with these guys nearly every day at the local tot park and share snacks and draw with chalk. And in sharing snacks what I really mean is that the tots would drop food all over the ground and then they’d scavenge like pigeons for the fallen food. Good for their immunity, right? So far they’ve survived.

This family has been one of my biggest supporters through the years. I feel so insanely thankful to have known the mom while in college in London and now I get to see the dapper little dudes she helps guide through life. Annnnd they are pretty cute.

Lordy lordy lordy. The minute I set foot in this family’s newly renovated home I started plotting how I could “accidentally” lock myself in their bathroom or garage or something. Everything about their home is 100%, hands down, no question about it EXACTLY what my dream home would look like. All the way down to the wide plank flooring, dark exterior paint, open concept kitchen, even the dog. I mean everything. And when you have super cute, smart and talented kids to photograph in a space like this…like really? Yeah. Heaven.

Coot Lake | Boulder, CO

Funny, when we were plotting where to do this shoot the mom said “I dunno if my kids will be entertained long enough by being out in nature.” Well, they were awesome. (granted we had to get some donut sugar flowing into our systems first). We blew bubbles, played hide and seek and pretty much just ran around in the trees. Yup, they did mighty fine in that great thing called mother nature.

family photo season a la 2016

Whoa nelly, where have I been?!?! Oh yeah, popped out another kid. Baby #2 is here and we are adjusting to life/work/toddler/baby-hood but LIFE IS GOOD. Nonetheless, we are gearing up for holiday photo season. Are you ready because I sure as heck am.

Available dates and locations:

Denver/Boulder: August 20-28.
San Francisco/Bay Area: October 17-22
Palm Springs/SoCal: December 19-31
Seattle/Portland/Olympia (i.e. PNW): all the dates in between the above mentioned.

Photo shoot options:

-Mini sessions: 20-ish minutes, outside, 5-10 final downloadable images. Little flexibility or variety but quick and easy.

-Full family sessions: 1.5-2 hours, in your home and/or outside at a spot that means something to you. 25-40 final images. Full family sessions are a bit more candid, flexible and offer a lot of variety. If your kid needs a break, a snack or time to warm up to me we have the flexibility to give it to him/her. I’ll let you do your thing so things are as natural as we can make it…and we’ll also do some more formal shots. Natural light only and the final images would be a mix of color/black and white. The full sessions I like because they tell more of a story about your life at that time vs crafting a couple nice images in the mini session.

What makes for a good photo? Sharp apparel or lots of mud (depending on the direction of the shoot), awesome lighting, letting your kids be kids, rolling with it, stiff drink/s and maaaaybe a miniature pony.
